Filofax Swap Shout Out: Finchley for Finchley

Hi everyone!

As some of you may remember, I downsized my Filofax family by about half, and kept only the ones that were either my favorites, or I knew would get a lot of rotation.

One of the ones that I was quite hesitant about re-homing was the Antique Rose Personal Finchley.  I love the Finchley range!  They have the most scrumptious, textured, soft leather.  And this pink is a great color.

I showed my stash to a friend who liked her and wanted to try her out, but she changed her mind and I have the Finchley back with me now.  (I figured if I gave her to a friend, I wouldn't mind letting her go as much.)

But I really have too many pink Filofaxes!

Now, I have a Teal Pocket Finchley very generously gifted to me by Vanja that is the most perfect blue color.

And that Pocket Finchley needs a big brother.  (Incidentally, blue is the one color I've been lemming in the Personal size, and I have yet to get one.)

So, if anyone out there would like to swap, I'm your girl!  The Antique Rose Finchley is in near-mint condition, used a few times, but mostly used as a household binder so it has stayed home most of the time, and hasn't gotten bashed around in a bag.

Finally!

Hi everyone!

As some of you may remember reading, I was on the hunt for a pocket Malden in ochre for a while now.  I even tried to swap for it in this post.  I think people are attached to their ochre Maldens however, so I didn't get any takers.

A few weeks ago though, an ebay saved search, and tons of patience, paid off.  I finally got one in the price range that I was willing to pay.  I finally had my hands on the Malden that I had been lemming.  I wanted the pocket ochre because I love my personal Malden so much that it had to have a baby brother (or sister, whichever).  I wrote about the setup and contents of my personal Malden in this post.

On to the pictures. I'm sure you've seen tons of pocket Malden photos, but not of mine (hah!), so here goes:

It needs to go on a diet, it's a bit of a stretch to close.

The set-up of this pocket is the same as I set up my pocket wallet/purse filos.  I wrote about it here.

At one point, I had a mini, but I had swapped it away to Lady Filo who will appreciate it more.  The mini was just too small for my needs.

Recipes Filofax

Hi everyone!

As I wrote in this post, I finally found a use for the Teal Pocket Filofax that Vanja gifted to me!  I now use it as my Recipes Filofax.

I rubbed on some brown lettering on the front page to identify it as such.














Then I made labeled dividers for each food category.  I didn't realize I'd need 12, but I did.

Numbered 1-6 tabs labeled with a label printer.

Random Act(s) of Kindness (RAOK)

Hi everyone!

It amazes me how complete strangers can be so nice!  I have recently been on the receiving end of Random Acts of Kindness from some pretty amazing bloggers who, just because, sent me some things in the mail, without expecting anything in return.

First off -- I was sent this Pocket Teal Finchley (yes, you read it right?) by Vanja of the blog Vanjilla.  We've been exchanging emails quite a bit, and I think she has my taste down pat.  She wrote about her pretty Finchleys and I thought it was wonderful because the color was amazing, and I'm a big fan of the Finchleys.  The next thing you know, it was in the post, and headed towards me!

And I have finally found a use for it!  Since I got it in July, I've been wanting to find a special use for it.  It's now my Recipe Filofax, which I'll write about in a separate post.

In my humble opinion, the Finchleys have one of the best color ranges of the newer Filofax styles.  I'm sure you've seen quite a few before, but I couldn't resist snapping a photo of them all-together.

One word, GORGEOUS!

And the Teal just balances out those pale pastels quite well.

Next off, Cloudberry wrote about how she used some Martha Stewart Dry-Erase Labels as an 'erasable' notepad in her Filofax.  I thought it was a Genius idea.  And once again, this nice lady offered to send me an extra one she wasn't using.  Along with cute paper clips that oddly enough are on my list of next things to look for in the store.










And lastly, I was desperate to get these tabs.  After just commenting that I couldn't find them anywhere, Charlotte offered to buy them for me.  How nice is that!  And I've been using them quite a bit in my filos.

If I Had To Choose Just One Filofax . . .

Hi everyone!

Laurie once asked this question on Philofaxy: "If I had to get rid of all my Filofaxes except one, which one would I keep?"  At that time, I couldn't choose between the pink pocket Baroque and personal antique rose Finchley.

This post will answer two questions.  (1) Which is my favorite Filofax?, and (2) If I had to choose just one, which one would I keep?

To answer the 1st question . . .

I love my pink personal Baroque!  It's a great size and color.  I prefer the Personal as an everything-in Filo, and have never used an A5.  The leather is soft and smooth outside with the famous inside embossing.

The inside front pocket has a very functional layout of pockets.  The zipped pocket holds so much.  I keep a flash drive and bluetooth device in there most times, it can even fit a pen/pencil and/or some sticky tags.  The cards section is empty of cards because I keep those in my wallet.  It only holds a bookmark at the moment.

At the back is a notepad slot which I prefer to a zipped pocket.  --  I prefer the notepad to a zipped pocket in the inside back cover.  And I love the capacity, it can hold so much.  I can use it as both planner and purse/wallet if I choose to.

The Baroque and Malden in the personal size are very similar.  They are my two favorite styles.

Going back to the subject title . . . I didn't have this Filofax when Laurie asked that question or I would have been able to respond right away.  I felt I had to have both a pocket AND a personal to function properly because I also use a filofax as a purse/wallet.  And, that's what I've been doing for a while now.

But if I had to choose just one, which one would I keep . . . ?

Having had a bit more time to mull it over, I can now say I can narrow it down to just one, and that would be the pink pocket Baroque.

"Why?", you may ask, after raving on about the personal size.

It's because the pocket is the easier to carry around.  It will fit in most bags, and it can really handle my life if I'm careful with what I put in it.  Also, not all my bags can handle a personal size (I have to rectify that situation).

And it's the pink Baroque that makes my heart sing!

And isn't that what's important in life?  (:
