Stationery Storage

Hi everyone!

My storage system has changed significantly vs. previous years and I thought it warranted a new post.

I've been hesitant to write this post because some of the items I use might not be available where you live. I myself find it frustrating when I want something I can't find locally. I decided to write it anyway to maybe just give you some ideas on how you can improvise with your storage.

I have corralled all the items I use for my planner and Midori so that I didn't need to run to my craft studio when I needed something, or when inspiration strikes in the middle of the night. I keep these in my room (I know!) either at the foot of my bed when I'm working on something, or under the bed at night. I can also carry them around the house if needed.

First off, this is where I keep planner inserts and stickers. I've had these for quite a while now and they work perfectly for me!  The hot pink zippered Beabi case was used as pen storage until I downsized my pens and used them for stickers instead. Personal size inserts fit perfectly in the Martha Stewart accordion files.

My most used items are kept in this Beabi case that I think is actually makeup or cosmetic storage. It's perfect for my daily and most-used items and will be at my bedside at night. It's a look-alike for the Kate Spade Tuxedo Court case at a fraction of the price!

I will switch out the items here so that I know I'm using what I have. This is what it contains at the moment. It holds a ton, and there's plenty of room for more.

My main storage is this craft tote that I also found locally for about $8!  It's structured enough to hold it's shape but soft enough to fold if not needed. It has a Velcro attachment inside for compartmentalizing your stuff if needed, but as you'll see, I didn't use it.

Instead, I got some B5 sized plastic containers from a Japanese store. They're a perfect fit! Each container has items by category: sticky notes, note pads, bookmarks and clips, etc.

It has pockets on all sides and this is what's in them.

Here's another way of storing those B5 containers.

I feel very efficient, organized, and contained in this storage system. I know where everything is and I can find them quickly.

And this is where I keep my planners and Midori supplies. I keep my planners in boxes because it's dusty in the city and this preserves them well, as well as their leather smell, when not in use.

That's it, my current stationery storage system. I hope that helped you somehow in finding the system that works for you.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me in the comments.

Storage for Pens used in my Filofax

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share with you a pen storage idea I discovered recently.

I found this organizer from a local company called beabi.  They make storage and organization items from bag organizers to makeup/cosmetic organizers to pill bottles.

This particular organizer was actually made for receipts. When I saw it, I knew I would have a use for it but didn't know exactly what I wanted to use it for.

As I was organizing my Filofax and Midori bedside storage that I wrote about here, I saw that this fit perfectly.  I then corralled all my pens and stuffed them in there.

Pen case at the very back

It's designed very simply but it's pretty well-made with some well-thought out details that make it a great storage binder for just about anything:

1.  It has 6 zippered compartments with the zippers running one way for the first 3 and in the opposite direction for the rest. It makes the organizer less bulky.

2.  There are pockets on both the front and back to store even more items.

You can use these slots for pads, stickers, and whatever else you may want to carry with the pens.

3.  And lastly, it has two popper buttons!  It can really be quite stuffed and doesn't strain the strap at all.

I took lots of photos so you can see just how much I have in it.

As you can see, it's quite full but with plenty of room to spare, and I can still close it on the 1st popper.

It comes in this bigger size and a smaller half size.

Most of my readers may not have access to this particular organizer but I'm sure you can find something like it at your local stores.

Hope this helps!

Using a Filofax as a Pen Case

Hi everyone,

For 2014, one of the changes I've been making to my diary is to use erasable pens because I want to make my pages as clean and neat as possible.

I got some Muji erasable pens in the colors I use, and a brown Frixion, a color Muji doesn't carry.

Having been used to multi-pens, I was looking for a way to carry my pens in my Filofax.  It wasn't a problem switching pens at home, but when I'm out, pulling out a pencil case isn't always very handy.

You may remember I sold a lot of Filofaxes.  This made getting this next Filofax a guilt-free purchase.  I've been wanting a blue/aqua/teal personal size Filofax for a while now and finally got the Aqua Chameleon.  I've been using it for about a month , and I'm loving it.  One of the reasons is this:

I can fit 6 pens in the back zipper pocket!  And the Muji pens are not by any means 'thin' pens.

The leather is much softer than I remember from my Compact Raspberry.  Althought the back pocket on that was roomy, I never really used it for coins because I liked seeing what I had, and used a clear zipped pocket for coins.

For perspective, I have a full year's worth of 2014 WO2P inserts, lots of notepaper, stickers, sticky notes, etc. So the Chameleon set up is not a svelte one.  (My next post post will be a detailed set up which I haven't done in quite a while.  There have been major changes so I think it's worth an update.)

Enough rambling, here are more photos of how the Chameleon looks with pens in the zipped pocket.

Still closes, even with 2 Coletos.

Strap is stretched out a bit, but it wasn't hard to close at all.

Bulk doesn't show from the front.

There it is, the Chameleon as a pencil case! I just love it when something works out like this!

Pen and Sticky Note Pouch

Hi everyone!

Today, I thought I'd share with you the pencil/cosmetic pouch I currently use to store the pens and sticky notes I use on a daily basis.

Match-y match-y in black
Since moving into the Midori as my everyday planner, I've had a little bit of fun experimenting with post-its and stickers and playing around with highlighters.  I needed something to corral all these so I looked around my stash of bags and pouches and found this Red Earth cosmetic pouch that I've had for the good part of a decade.  (Red Earth is an Asian brand and I got this for free after buying from their store in HongKong.)

I love this pouch!  It's super sturdy, cleans easily, and is quite mythical in the amount of junk it can hold.

Let me show you!

It has two main zippered compartments.

Fabric heart and charms

I used Glossy Accents to attach a fabric heart to the front of the pouch to distinguish the front of the pouch from the back.

The front compartment opens on all three sides and has slots for pens and a full-length slot on the far side.
Pen slot with everyday pens/corrector
The back pocket opens only on the top and has a main compartment plus two smaller ones on the back side.

Back compartment

This is all the stuff the front compartment holds:  binder cliips I use for GTD, 3 multi pens, 2 retractable Frixions, a Sharpie fineliner, a corrector pen, a pen eraser, bear & frog sticky notes, paper clips on Starbucks card, flower Post-Its, non-stick flags for little notes, and a full set of masking stickers.
Contents of front compartment

The back compartment doesn't contain quite as much but I can stuff even more in there if I wanted.  It currently holds 6 highlighters, an extra paper clip, a glue stick, Post-It Flags times two and small square Post-Its in matching colors.

Contents of back compartment
And here are all the contents together.

It always amazes me how much this thing holds.  I've looked around for something else to replace it but have yet to find something that can organize as well but isn't quite so big.  I'm tempted to get the Document Wallet everyone's been using, but I'm holding off to see how well I get on with this.

I rotate my Post-Its quite a bit so I can use them all up.  I'll show you how I store the rest of it in another post.
