Anyone who knows me well enough knows that I am obsessed with organizing. Many people have watched me clean out a closet in amazement at the enjoyment I get out of it. I volunteer to help other people clean out their stuff. I walk around for days dreaming up ways to organize things around the house, and I won't stop until it's done. I NEED things to be in order.
Today I will show you how I contained the chaos that is my Filofax
I lived with my storage 'solution' as long as I could. I used binders for inserts storage, separating them with tabs, thinking it was enough. I had binders that stored extra diary inserts, binders that stored notepaper, binders that stored tabs. I thought it was an excuse for me to handle my binders on a daily basis. I was wrong.
I didn't like it. I didn't having to open and close the rings every time I needed to pull something out. For me, storage has to be for a specific purpose (does that make sense?). And I had an epiphany -- accordion/expandable files! Like this. I see them everywhere. I've even had a big, black one that I never really got around to using. They would be perfect to (1) contain all my inserts, and (2) still categorize them for easy access. I looked at specialty stores, thinking they would have more variety, but they were all too big (I needed Personal- and Pocket-sized storage, and I wasn't going to settle for the wrong size). They were also expensive, the equivalent of about $12 each. I continued looking.
And voila, on a trip to a local bookstore, I found the perfect-sized ones! They ticked all the boxes: right size, cheap, choice of colors, sturdy, blank labels included. Did I mention CHEAP! (: They're the equivalent of $2.50 and $1.25 for the personal- and pocked-sized, respectively. Score!

It takes very little to make me happy!
Thanks for visiting!
I love this idea! I did something similar this week but never thought about these little files. I've seen them before and wondered what the heck anybody would use them for - duh!!! Of course! I'm going to see if I can get some now. Thank you!

I was organizing my inserts in empty binders, and it just clicked. I've gotten a few more different sized ones since for sticker pages, etc. They are quite useful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment!
Thanks for the inspiration! Right now all my extra inserts and stuff sit in a plastic container. I must head out to my nearest office supply store and find some for myself!
