Stickers In My Filofax

Hi everyone!

If you think you're going to see pretty little stickers in this post, you'd be disappointed.  It's because I'm not going to write about how I use stickers but about how I don't use them.

I tried, I really did!  I was inspired by how so many of you use stickers to make your pages colorful.  I had the Filofax-brand stickers.  I had colorful index labels from Etsy.  I had washi tape.  I had whole sheets of sticker cute-ness.

But I never bothered to use them.  The Filofax brand ones were tiny and didn't really stand out from the page.  It was a bother, at least to me, to choose a sticker, stick it on the page, write around it (if it's on the diary), etc., etc.  I was also sometimes distracted by them on my diary pages which to me are more functional than decorative.  Color-coding already gives me some color.

I sometimes doodle the weather on the pages, but even then, I've never been able to keep it up for any length of time.

For example, if I put any stickers on these pages, where I had a busy week, I would have nowhere to write.  (:

I've been using the Dodopad Diary for a while now, and maybe that's why.  There really is no need for any more embellishments because the pages are pretty enough as they are.  (And which is maybe one of the reasons why I like the Dodopad.)  For 2013 though, I'm using the Cotton Cream with the days divided into To-dos and Appointments, and I know I'm not going to use stickers this year either.

Is there something wrong with me?  Why is everyone else creative with their pages?  I feel left out and different ):  I know I shouldn't, but I do.

Oh well . . . !

  1. I try to make mine look pretty but it just doesn't usually happen! xD
I love that diary layout, can't believe I've never seen it before! Wish I had now, before buying my new one!

    1. Hi, we're the same then. Just can't seem to prettify my pages.

I love the Cotton Cream because it's not stark white, and the weekends are all equally-sized with weekdays. What are you using now?

  2. I think it looks great! I love the way you have customised your FF diary insert. Perhaps you could use a different coloured inkpad for your stamp? I have ink stamps with flowers and swirls that I sometimes use in the corner of a page. Sometimes I use black ink and colour in with felt pen!

    1. Hi Cloudberry! I used brown because it's the exact same shade as the brown on the cotton cream. I never even considered using a different colored ink. And stamps around the page are a great idea. I may just try them.

    1. Hi Angel Jem! I guess I just try to prettify my Filo in other ways. Regards.

  6. I'm not into stickers, or coloured pens, I just use either violet ink, or blue ink.

I suppose it looks very plain.

    But that's me I guess.

    1. Hi Susan! Like Angel Jem above said, sometimes a planner is just a planner. If it works, then it's fulfilling its purpose. Thanks for the comment!

  7. I love looking at other people's planners with stickers, washi tape & coloured pens... so pretty. However, I find it too visually distracting for my own & some stickers I put on my flyleaf didn't stay there even one day. I've introduced colour using dividers, a picture behind the flyleaf & a charm.
I do know what you mean though!

    1. Anita, my sentiments exactly. My dividers are sometimes colorful, sometimes white, depending on what mood strikes. Colored ink also helps with adding some interest. But sometimes, I just don't want color and my dividers right now are just plain white. Regards.

  8. I didn't think I was a sticker person either ( too little girly a nd non business like,) until a short while ago I spied some very grown up Cavellini stickers. I blogged yesterday showing them on my Down The Well blog.

  9. I too have lots of stickers. I have purposefully used some Dodopad stickers on my year planner, but I doubt I will use any on my weekly pages. I would love to, but it just doesn't seem to happen. I use coloured pens some of the time, but fail to even manage to follow any kind of colour coding as I forget what each one is supposed to be for :o)

    1. Color-coding with pens seems to be the only thing I can keep up doing on a going basis. (:

  10. I'm the same way -- I love how the stickers look and for a while I bought new ones for every month/season. But the reality was that I forgot to add them to the planner. It was one more thing for me to remember, an unnecessary thing in terms of functionality. I finally gave in to the idea that maybe they weren't for me, as much as I liked seeing them in my pages. I'll just live vicariously through others' creative diary inserts. :)

    1. Kanalt, yes, it became one more thing to do. It took away from what I used the diary pages which, for me, was for planning and remembering things.
