Matching your bag to your Filofax

Hi everyone!

I recently read a blog post with suggestions on matching your bags to your Filofax.  It struck me that I sometimes do this.  Not all the time since it's a little bit of a pain to change out my Filofax just to match my bag, but currently, I just happen to have a matching bag and Filofaxes.

As written in an earlier post, I've been living in my Personal Malden for quite some time now.  It's the most forgiving of the Filofaxes I have in terms of capacity.  Nothing comes close.  So, I've been using it as my everything-in, stay-at-home binder.  In my bag, I carry a Pocket Malden in the same ochre color.

And here they are together, with the bag.

Bag, and Personal and Pocket Maldens

The bag is one I got about a year ago, along with this other black one I wrote about here.

I love this brown bag!  The main compartment is very, very roomy without being massive.  The two front pockets are also great for storing a cell phone and other stuff while on the go because they're very accessible, versus digging into the main compartment to pull out a phone.  The leather is very soft and thin, making it quite weightless when empty.  Although it will tend to patina over time, I don't mind that.  It has already gotten a bit darker in the time I've used it.  It has a small area where the leather's rubbing off where it hits my hips when on my shoulder, but I found that it cleans out with leather cleaner/conditioner.  I use the same brand cleaner as the bag.

Of course they're not a perfect match but they come pretty close.

Thanks for visiting!

  1. Thanks for sharing, that's a lovely bag & it is very close to your Maldens :)
I have a red bag that goes nicely with my crimson Malden, & my purple Cambridge satchel did go quite well with my purple Malden. Sadly the purple filo was faulty, so most of the time I have a red filo with my purple bag...

  2. Hi Anita! I would love to see your 'matchies'. Pity about the purple Malden, FF should really fix their ring issues. Regards.

  3. Oh, I love it! They match beautifully!.. But I could never do this, so this is one of the reasons I went with a black leather FC planner. I change my purse nearly EVERYDAY, so I figure that the black just better look nice with EVERYTHING!.. Now I've got my eye on the filo minis (pocket/wallet sized), so the question is... Should I just go with black again, OR should I be totally wildly frivolous, and collect all the colors my heart desires?!!! (0; Ha! Ha!.. Well, my checkbook is already cringing, just at the thought, but we'll just have to see! ~tina

    1. Hi Tina! Come to think of it, I don't have a black Filo. My brown is your black. (:

Wish I could help with the color decision but I'm as fickle as the next girl. I'm sure you'll find the perfect mini for you.
